Medicare Coverage for Diabetic Shoes
Medicare Part B covers one pair of therapeutic shoes and up to three pairs of inserts per calendar year for qualifying patients with diabetes. To qualify, you generally need:
- A diagnosis of diabetes
- Documentation from your treating physician of a qualifying foot condition (such as neuropathy, poor circulation, foot deformity, history of ulcers, or partial amputation)
- A prescription from your podiatrist or physician
- A certification statement from the doctor managing your diabetes
